We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced staff to join our team at Black Mountain Activities for the summer session 2019.
We are a busy family run adventure center who deliver a arrange of high quality adventure activities to a range of clients, from schools, youth groups, families, social groups, stag & hen parties and team building events for corporate groups and individuals of all ages. The activities we offer are gorge walking, open canoeing, kayaking, raft building, caving, archery, orienteering, high level ropes and zip wire, mountain biking, hill walking, rock climbing, land carting, paintballing and team tasks. The activities take place in and around the Brecon Beacons, using its natural resources such as caves, rives, and mountains.

We are currently looking to fill the following positions:

  • Adventure activity instructor

Instructor

The role of the instructor is to deliver safe, informative and enjoyable activity sessions, working within the company’s guidelines and NGB qualifications; Where there is no qualification the company offers in house training. Some of our activities such as Gorge Walking, Caving and Rock Climbing take place around 40 minutes drive from the centre, for which we aim to provide transport for our customers. Therefore a D1 on your license would be an advantage. Car driving license is essential.

Working week:

Five working days per week, this will include weekends and bank holidays. Working hours are normally from 8.30am – 5.30pm with lunch and coffee/tea breaks included in this time. Because of the nature of the industry specific times for lunch or tea/coffee breaks cannot be given and will therefore remain flexible. When working with schools that are on a residential activity course with Black Mountain Activities, evening activities are provided by the company, for which you will be required to supervise and provide extra activities, particularly when dealing with school groups. This is usually from 7.00PM – 9.00PM in addition to the normal working day. Appropriate notice will be given.
A flexible weekly Roster is programmed on a weekly basis.

Prerequisites:

All applicants must have at least 2 of the following NGB qualifications and a current first aid certificate:

  • Single Pitch Award
  • UKCC level 1 paddle sports ( or 4 star canoe/kayak)
  • Mountain Leader
  • Mountain Bike Award
  • Local Cave Leader – South Wales Level 1 or higher.
  • D1 mini bus

Contract Duration:

March/April to October/November 2019
