We have two beginner sessions available here at Black Mountain Adventure, our Kayak Taster (approx. 2 hours session) which is perfect for newbies who fancy giving it a go and seeing what it’s about or, for those who have had a go and got the bug, then our Introduction to Kayaking (approx. 5 hours) is the session for you. All sessions are run by our British Canoeing qualified instructors with emphasis placed on delivering a safe, enjoyable & fun experience through progressive learning and confidence building.

What’s Involved – Our taster sessions take place on sheltered water and are perfect for beginners who want to ‘have a go!’. The session will introduce you to the kayaks and how they handle in the water as well as show you a few skills to paddle around too, all while in a safe & fun environment.
Cost: £55 per person – included kit & equipment
Time: Afternoon Only – 1:15pm to 4:30pm

What’s Involved – Our introduction to kayaking days are designed with the British Canoeing ‘Paddle Start’ Award in mind. Your coach will teach you the fundamental skills of kayaking, building your confidence to enjoy the sport in sheltered conditions and start your journey in paddlesports. We recommend having tried a bit of kayaking before as our intro days do involve a 1-2 hr trip.
Cost: £85.00 per person – including full kit, equipment and coaching.

Kayaking is available as either a half day session (2 hours) or full day session (4-5 hours). Times for each session are specified below however, finishing times may vary depending on group size. Please also be aware that times include check-in & kit-up.

All our activity sessions take place outdoors where conditions may be wet, cold & muddy. Please consider this prior to arrival, preparing yourself with appropriate clothing for the outdoors.
