Hill Walking
The Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains are some of the most stunning mountain ranges in the UK and both are within easy reach of the Black Mountain Centre. The Brecon Beacons provide the highest peak, Pen Y Fan (886m), while the range of the Black Mountains offers the rolling hills of Hay Bluff, Lord Hereford’s Knob, and the famous Tumpa. We will tailor your hill walking day to suite your level of ability and will include as much map work as possible to make sure you get the most out of the day. Our experienced guides are very knowledgeable about the area and the local wildlife and you are certain to see something of interest, possibly even the majestic Red Kite, with its wingspan of almost 2m, the largest bird of prey in Wales.

Navigation Skills.
If you are looking to develop your navigation skills, we run Bronze, Silver & Gold Nagigator awards as part of the national navigation award scheme, These two day courses to discover new skills and refine existing ones. You will cover all aspects of advanced navigation and leave capable of finding your way confidently in all conditions; day and night, and bad weather.
